How the Battle of Britain Transpired:
1940 is the day Germans started the bombing raid that lasted 3 and half months. Britain knew the axis power would turn the sights across the channel. On July 10th in the channel 120 German bombers struck British ships and 70 other bombers attacked the dockyard. This is just apart of how the battle of Britain transpired. |

Weapons:Weapons used in the Battle of Britain were Messerschmitt 109 fighter 2x7.9mm Machine Guns, Messerschmitt 110 fighter 2x20mm Cannon, 44x7.9mm Machine Guns, 1x79mm Mounted Machine, Junkers 87 (stuka) Bomber 217 1x1. 102 lbs Bombs, Junkers 88 Bomber 5.510lbs of Bombs, Heinkel 111 Bomber 5.510lbs of Bombs, Dornier 17 Bombers 2210 lbs of Bombs, Dornier 2015 Bomber 2,215 lbs of Bombs. Those are some of the weapons that were used in the battle of Britain.
Strategies used in the battles: The bombers would attack at altitudes between 10,000 and 16,000 feet. They had BF 109 fighters escorts (fighters escorting fighters) smaller bomber groups would be used with heavier fighter escorts most 109s were transferred to the German airbase at Pas de Calais.
Statistics i.e casualties, wounded, etc: Luftschlacht um England, literally “Air Battle for England” was a combat of second world war when the Royal Air Force defended the united kingdom against the German Air Force attacks from the end of June 1940-Casualties- The Toll- Both sides lost heavily during the battle of Britain. More than 1700 luftwaffe planes were destroyed.
Significance: (Importance to the outcome of WW1 of the battles)- Battle of Britain was the firstmajor campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date. The Battle of Britain marked the first defeat of hitler's military forces.
